North Street Players Come North!

The North Street Playhouse will present a Studio production of "Well" by Lisa Kron on Sunday, November 23, 7:30pm, at the Chincoteague Senior Center. This will be the first performance in a series of North Street Playhouse productions to be held on the island this winter and spring. The series is a program of the North Street Players in cooperation with the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance.

About the Play . . .

The six-character play, "Well" is one of the most acclaimed new plays of the past several seasons, winning two Tony nominations and numerous awards. In "Well", the main character, Lisa, has written an autobiographical play which explores matters of health and wellness.  She has hired a group of four actors to portray a variety of people in her life.  In addition she has her mother on stage with her. The production begins well enough, but humorously starts falling apart as the mother interrupts and corrects Lisa"s version of events. At first, Lisa's ensemble of actors is very disconcerted by the interruptions to the play they've rehearsed, but soon they, too, begin to interract with the mother and question Lisa's account.

About North Street Players . . .
The North Street Playhouse based in Onancock , has been producing live theatre on the Eastern Shore since 1986. "Well" is its 126th production of 106 plays over this twenty-two year period. Each year the Playhouse produces several differenct theatre series.  The Studio series, which will be shown in Chincoteague, includes plays that may be more contemporary and edgier than the mainstage performances; they are performed as staged workshops, incorporating simpler production values and running for fewer performances.
