Each month, the Island Coffeehouse presents a variety of arts in a listening room environment. Enjoy performances by acoustic musicians and spoken word artists, view some visual art, and savor food and drinks in a convivial atmosphere. Everyone is welcome.

Amy Ferebee to perform at coffeehouse
Headliner: Amy Ferebee 
Amy Ferebee is most well known as a guitarist and vocalist, playing the local and regional club and festival circuits around Norfolk since 1974. Her impressive guitar work and powerful vocals, soulfully transport her listeners with an eclectic mix of traditional Flat-Picked Fiddle tunes and Finger-Style Blues, choice New-grass and Americana songs, Jazz standards and nice originals thrown in for good measure.


Regina Scott Sanford to perform at coffeehouse
Headliner: Regina Scott Sanford
Regina Scott Sanford has honed her craft as an actor, vocalist, songwriter, poet, spoken word artist and percussive washboard player. She is especially well known for composing and recording her own musical tracks to back her song lyrics and spoken word performances, and she is remembered for her notable representations of Harriett Tubman and other historical figures.

Cost of admission, food and drinks

$5.00 cover charge for adults.
$3.00 for those aged under 22 (please be prepared to show ID).
Beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages are priced from $1.00 to $5.00.
Baked goods and snacks: $1.00 to $3.00.
A light meal is priced depending on the menu -- see This Month's Menu for details.

How it Works!

  • Doors open at 6:30 PM when beverage and food service begins. Enjoy the visual art exhibition.
  • Snacks and food are sold on a first come, first serve basis. A limited number of portions is available.
  • Performances begin around 7:30 PM.
  • One of two opening performances are followed by a short intermission, then the headliner act takes the stage.
  • The Island Coffee House is a listening room. All performances are unplugged. 
  • The headline performer receives the entirety of the cover charge as compensation.
  • The tip jar is split between the the opening acts.  Be generous!
  • Proceeds from the sale of food and drinks go towards the overhead costs of running the coffeehouse.
