Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - FREE MOVIE
Winner of four Academy Awards this classic tale of historical buddies chronicles the exploits of two of the leaders of the Hole In The Wall Gang. Paul Newman and Robert Redford star as Butch and Sundance.  For Details click here.

 

2nd Saturday Art Stroll July 11

The art strolls take place from 6:00 - 10:00pm on the 2nd Saturday of each month from April - November. Dante Bucci
If you love the sound of those beautiful steel drums of the Cribbean, this is the concert for you!  Dante Bucci brings the hang - the modern version of the steel drum -  to Chincoteague for this special concert.  His music incorporates the happy sound of steel drum music with the rhythmic complexity of world beat music and the harmonic subtleties of traditional western music.  It’s music to hear and see.  Oh, and a bit of didgeridoo too!!

Chincoteague Cultural Alliance Film Series. . . . FREE
Four films will be screened in Robert Reed Park this summer.  Show times are all Thursday evenings at 9 p.m.  Films include  Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid (
July 9),
Step into Liquid (July 23), Babe (August 13) and Waking Ned Devine (August 27).   Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the free films.  Exquisitly delicious and appropirate popcorn & snowcones available at modest costs for self-indulgent patrons:) 


 

Summer 2009 Music Concerts
Robert Reed Downtown Waterfront Park will be alive with the sounds of music this summer. Music at the Dock Concerts are FREE. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the view of Chincoteague Bay while you listen to the music.  Sea Chanteys with Bob Zentz. Contemporary Folk/Rock with Hemlock Hollow.  Bluegrass with Jericho Bridge. Patriotic music by Salisbury Brasswerkes.  Barbershop with Sweet Adelines.  For details click here.

Plein Air Paint Out, Exhibition and Sale
Our Sixth Annual Plein Air Painting event will take place on Saturday, September 12. Artists choose sites throughout Chincoteague and Assateague Islands as subjects for original paintings, with an exhibition and sale of their works on Saturday evening. For details Click

Trio La Milpa
Wind Ensemble Concert
On September 19 at 7PM, the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance, in cooperation with the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and the Chincoteague Natural History Association, will present a concert by the acclaimed woodwind ensemble, Trio La Milpa. The concert will be held at the Herbert H. Bateman Educational and Administrative Center at the Refuge. For details and ticket information click here

Drama comes to Chincoteague with the North Street Players
Two productions took place on Chincoteague Island this Spring.  Noel Coward in Two Keys and Duck Hunter Shoots Angel played to appreciative audiences.  Click here to view the photo album of the plays.

 2008 Pony Pins are still available!
Proceeds from the sale of Pony Pins, designed and crafted by Jim Warren of Laughing Dog Jewelry, support CCA scholarships for Chincoteague High School students who excel in the arts. Pins are sold at CCA member shops, including Island Cottage Collection, Wine, Cheese & More, Sundial Books, Island Butterfly, Island Arts, Vintage Rose Antiques and Egret Moon Artworks or online.
