Chincoteague Island Writers Project
Writing Groups: There are two separate groups currently meeting on a biweekly basis as part of the Chincoteague Island Writers Project, sharing their stories, poetry, essays, and blog posts with each other for gentle critiques. Contact CCA if you are interested in joining or have questions.
Upcoming Events: TBA
Several members of the Writers Project prepared monologues which were performed at CITC's 3rd Thursday Theatre event for June 2017.
Writers Project members read their works aloud in events held at the Island Coffeehouse and the Chincoteague Island Library.
Writers participated in "Indies First" Day at Sundial Books, talking to customers about their favorite books, about starting additional writing groups on Chincoteague, and what helps them to be better writers. They also distributed a chapbook, FROM (link will download a .pdf).
Latest Individual Accomplishments:
Andrea Canfield has been very active lately: her work was chosen by the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art and Story Exchange for their joint "Muse" event; she recently performed works at Zeiders American Dream Theater in Virginia Beach and The Muse Writer's Center in Norfolk, and will be performing in WHRV's new show Writer's Block. Look for her forthcoming true crime book with Arcadia Publishing!
In other non-Andrea-related news, Cynthia Eddy has had two of her poems published.
