Into The Wild is based on a true story and best-selling book by Jon Krakauer.  After graduating from Emory University in 1990, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless, (Emile Hirsch) abandons his possessions, gives away his entire savings and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness with little more than a .22 rifle and a 10-pound sack of rice. Sean Penn, who wrote and directed the film, follows faithfully in Christopher’s footsteps and illuminates his personality by showing us the world as he saw it. USA 2007.
